Gyping without fear
22 Nov 2007
Proboat, the UK's leading trade distributor of specialist marine and architectural hardware, will showcase a new boom brake, which will help make gyping safer alongside minimizing injury to the crew and equipment.
The fitting, distributed by the Wichard based company, will be displayed at the Proboat stand in BBEx 2008's Solent Hall. Proboat predict the fitting will be a sure - fire seller in the marine and leisure industry because it makes the challenging operation of maneuvering the boom simpler and safer.
The brake is composed of three components, a boom brake, a forged shackle and a specialized line which withstands the high friction caused by a crash gype. The device can be fitted to any rig, from old gaffers to fractional rigs up to a mainsail of 46 square meters.
