Innovative airconditioning

A major supplier of marine equipment to yacht builders, military and commercial shipbuilders worldwide, Dometic Marine supplies air conditioning systems to all larger UK OEM’s including Fairline, Sunseeker, Princess, Sealine and Oyster as well as many smaller boatbuilders and aftermarket customers with individual requirements. The company also offers extensive applications support and has engineering and production resources all over the world.

The company itself has over 49 years standing in the industry, being responsible for the first boat air conditioner. Since then, it has developed its expertise so that a Dometic system can heat or cool a boat from ambient temperatures as high as 50°C to as low as minus 5°C. For boats that wish to venture outside of these operating conditions Dometic offers a custom service such as electric heater barrels, resistive in-line heaters and of course diesel fired water heaters that can be used in conjunction with Dometic air conditioning systems.

Dometic is introducing new products as part of an active engineering program for noise abatement measures such as sound shields, isolation rails, and sound deadening materials. The launch of the 'DC series air handler' for both Marineair & Cruisair product groups utilises noise reduction technology to eliminate the motor hum that can occur when the fan is running at low speeds. The AC power supply is converted to DC to drive a high efficiency brushless DC fan motor.

A new, low profile 16000 BTU 'Dashair' self contained air conditioner stands just eight inches tall, specifically designed for places where height is restricted, such as helm areas.

Customer expectations have steadily increased in recent years, which has resulted in larger and more powerful systems being installed. Dometic have developed a variable frequency drive system to help counteract these ever increasing electrical loads that virtually eliminates any form of in-rush current associated with starting large electric motors. The result can mean smaller generators and a more stable power supply. Variable frequency drives have a 3-phase output, but can work effectively with both single and 3-phase power supplies.

Dometic also offer a full range of dedicated 230V 50Hz equipment for a European market as well as 230V 60Hz and 110V systems, catering for all boats, anywhere in the world. Please feel free to contact either Paul or Steve if you have an air conditioning requirement.
